"I join the ever growing number of people all over the world who believe that God wants to do again what he did in the days of Patrick...and more. As He once swept the entire land of Ireland with the love of Jesus through Patrick and his disciples centuries ago, affecting the nations of the world, so shall He do it once more. This website encourages our agreement with the things which are in the heart of God...to see genuine renewal/revival for Ireland, in and through ALL Irish churches, resulting in the love of Jesus being proclaimed by the Irish throughout the earth. I'm grateful to be a part of this movement."

Even as a millennium ago, the dear Saints in Bangor enjoyed intimate communion with God, 24/7 for decades at a time, may God's children whose feet tread the same paths as those our forebears, so fall in love with the living God, that divisive denominationalism will fall away like grave clothes, to be replaced by a passion to demonstrate the all-conquering, unconditional love of Jesus to a world that needs him but knows it not. I believe that the calling of Richard Treacy to this work is for such a time as this.

"God has significantly used the people of Ireland in the past to be a blessing to other nations. In recent times however Ireland appears to have been more synonymous with sectarianism, violence and bigotry. Pray on Saint Patricks Day is a tremendous opportunity for all who have a heart for this land to pray for the purposes of God in Ireland -- that the river of Gods Spirit may flow and that Ireland can once again be a instrument of Gods blessing to the nations".

It is imperative that we as believers acknowledge, meditate upon and receive through faith the rich spiritual inheritance that flows from our Celtic brothers& sisters in Christ. This initiative is spot on . We of The Apostolic Team Ministries stand with you in prayer !

'We are thrilled at this timely initiative to mobilise prayer for this significant island and its offspring. As we move into the climatic days ahead God's plans surely include Ireland moving into its God given destiny to impact the nations. Even a cursory glance back at our spiritual heritage reveals to us the beginning of a powerful apostolic and prophetic story still to be fully unfolded. Now is the time to pray for a fresh missionary thrust in the spirit and power of those spiritual sons and daughters of St. Patrick who swept across the European continent over 1000 years ago

Bishop Harold Miller
Down and Dromore Diocese

'As the Church of Ireland Bishop of Down and Dromore I recognise the importance of St. Patrick's legacy. In a changing and challenging world I believe that using St. Patrick's Day as an opportunity to pray for the island of Ireland and all her people is in keeping with this legacy. I commend this prayer project and will be a part of it as I join with hundreds of others in celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Saul and Downpatrick Cathedral.'

Rev. Ian Berry.
Rector, St. Patrick's Church of Ireland Church. Monaghan.

This call to prayer is something very simple to join in with yet also something vital. To focus prayer even for just a day on Ireland will have long lasting effects as we seek and find God's will for His people in this place. I heartily recommend the site, the idea and most importantly participation in prayer on St Patrick's Day.

The Rev'd. Dr. John Roddam
Rector - St. Luke's, Seattle (USA)

St. Patrick has captured the hearts and imaginations of people worldwide. The concept of taking a significant date and "Christianizing" it was part of Patrick's missiological strategy. He would clearly resonate with a prayer initiative of this nature!! May the Lord stir in Christians worldwide to pray for Ireland on St. Paddy's Day!

Roger Mitchell
Co-Founder, Passion

As an Englishman who discovered with surprise and joy that the Irish are our spiritual fathers, I ask you to join in and pray on St. Patrick's day! Please pray with me that the Lord will help us English to turn the hearts of us their English children back to them in repentance for all the pain and oppression we have brought to them over the years. And pray for grace for the Irish to forgive us and for us to change! Pray for the great gospel reconciliation and partnership between us that is already beginning, to come to fulfillment!

Rev Paul Lyons
Rector of Greenisland Parish Church of Ireland.

Richard, well done in putting this initiative together. It serves as a great focus in helping us remember why we have a bank holiday on March 17th. I feel it will both please God that the people of this nation are taking time to spend with Him and will help us to live and witness for Him. May this day of prayer help the body of Christ to realise the truth in Martin Luther's famous words - "I have so much to do today that I must set apart more time than usual to pray."

“To stand alongside Richard Treacy and the “Pray on St. Patrick’s Day” initiative is both an honour and a privilege. We at Sporting Marvels have discovered that above all things, our Christian walk is about the condition of our heart and standing with like-minded people and Kingdom-focused strategies is a pleasure and a must. Our corporate aim is to see Jesus glorified and never has there been a need for what the Bible calls iron sharpening iron. Many times we have felt the Lord say that “Prayer is ‘THE’ key not ‘A’ key and no-one will be more thrilled than us here in Wales, when the “Pray on St. Patrick’s Day” initiative achieves and indeed, exceeds all its objectives”.

Bill Roy is the former leader of Gateway Church

' There was a time when I was much more directly involved in church and prayer initiatives than I am today. I have travelled a lot over the past 10 years to various far flung places around this small world of ours. I have found, wherever I have gone, that there is a welcome embrace for Irish pilgrims. I believe as much as ever that Ireland is a stepping off point and gateway to Europe and the nations. The commitment and sacrifice of Irish missionaries in places like Uganda and Brazil is beyond words or measure, I have seen the evidence for myself. Patrick's legacy was to be the catalyst for men and women to hoist their sails and go where the wind blew them. The wind is still blowing and they are still going.

Maybe this prayer initiative will galvanise us all to believe for more bridges to be built, more partnerships to be formed, more hearts to be turned, more hopes to be raised and more love to be shared. Well done Richard, keep going and keep dreaming, together we can unblock the wells of creativity, of worship, reconciliation and mission, the wells St Patrick and our forefathers dug.'

Having been a missionary to this great land of Ireland and knowing the rich heritage that was left behind by St Patrick and many others, our hearts yearn for more of that zeal and passion to be revived again in this land of the Saints and Scholars. Within the Irish there is a deep desire to see the Glory of God being restored once again in this land which will spread and impact many nations!

God is about to raise an army from Ireland that will bring the Gospel to the ends of the earth but for that to take place, each one of us needs to stand united & pray like never before!!! . So lets keep March 17aside for a united time of prayer.

Rev Vaughan Baker

"I wholeheartedly support the prayonstpatricksday movement. Your country is key to what God is doing in bringing revival to this world. Situated strategically near the rest of Europe and Africa, and with close ties to the Americas, it has always been in your "DNA" to reach out beyond your shores. You have missionary blood! Our first Methodists in America were from Ireland, and many areas around the world have been blessed by the Irish reaching out in the name of Christ. If the world is a tinderbox then you are the "match" ready to be used of God to light the fire of revival. May the "Land of Saints and Scholars" rise up again to claim its calling as a bellweather of revival. If revival begins with you it WILL go around the world!"

Our prayers have to added to all the prayers of the generations gone before us. We are not alone but we continue to remind the Lord of this nation. But we must pray that the Lord will be merciful because time is short and He is moving on.

So lets be faithful even to those who have gone before us. They have left us with the signsof a legacy that are scattered throughout our land but we pray for a greater measure of His mercy and love to be seen in these last days.

“Reading Boiler Room (24-7 prayer) will definitely be Praying on St. Patrick’s Day. We have a passion to see the nations of Europe rising up in prayer and mission to take our continent back for God.

St. Patrick and the Celtic saints are an inspiration to us of that Godly pioneering spirit that will not be daunted by setbacks and hardship. Our desire is to see young men and women raised up in this generation who will have that same Spirit, vision and passion.

Bishop Donal McKeown
Auxiliary Bishop of Down and Connor Diocese, Northern Ireland.

"St Patrick's Day is a time when many celebrate. But it is also a day many people still pray and are reminded of the Good News that Patrick spread in Ireland. Our praying together to the Triune God can remind us of much that we share - our common ancestry and our common destiny.

But we live in a world that is experiencing both globalisation and fragmentation. Prayer on March 17th can help us to both seek local identity and develop worldwide solidarity. For we remember one whose vision went far beyond these shores. But he began to change the world by speaking the truth in love to the person beside him"

Rev Dr. Ken Newell
Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and Minister of Fitzroy Presbyterian Church, Belfast.

I'm delighted to endorse the Pray on St Patrick's Day initiative.

In the run up to 17 March I always try to set aside an hour to read his 'Confession'.

He is a giant of faith that both Protestants and Catholics in Ireland connect with.

His story is very relevant in communities where animosity still simmers under the surface or breaks out in sectarian and racial conflicts.

Why?
Because Christ turned his life around as a teenager and helped him to develop a love for people who had hurt him.

Ireland needs people today who can love like that.

As you pray on St Patrick's Day ask Christ to put in you
the same courageous love he put into the heart of his servant Patrick.

I truly believe that God has inspired Richard Tracy to send out this unique clarion call and challenge, not only to the Irish (wherever they may be in the world), but to all those with a Celtic inheritance, to collectively pray on this most recognisable and special day. Lets do it!

'I like the site and it warms my heart. There is more work to be done in finding all the redemptive grace in a reconciliation between the Celts and the English. We must find one another for the new season, it is not enough to rend our hearts over our history. I encourage all my English brethren to pray for Ireland, because the nation is our spiritual parent and if we would live long in the land we should "honour our father & mother"

"For over thirty years the world has prayed for peace in Ireland. On St. Patrick's Day, the world-wide Irish community (and anyone who cares to join us) are called to pray for the transformation of Ireland - God can do it! Will you be a part of it?!?"

“Richard and Lisa Treacy have become good friends to my husband Stephen and I over the last few years. We love their openness, hospitality and radical passion for Christ. Richard is a market place minister, with a heart of compassion. He is an innovative Kingdom thinker, but more than this, Richard is a Kingdom do-er. He is one of the new breed of Celts, sold out for Jesus, seeking relative ways to communicate the gospel in today’s society. Richard and Lisa love the nations, and they regularly travel overseas to share the good news of Jesus Christ. I believe Richard has heard from heaven: to mobilise a prayer army of ‘ordinary’ Christians who love Jesus, and who love Ireland! As a fellow Celt, it is my great joy to add my commendation to Richard’s rally call to join with heaven and “pray on St Patrick’s Day”. Let’s unite across the globe and pray for revival in Ireland. May God arise and his enemies be scattered as Ireland takes her place in the King’s Destiny.”

“While I was with Richard Treacy in Ireland we went to the location where Patrick had his first church. I was surprised because of the amazing anointing I felt in the church. I then realized that Patrick was not just an icon for Ireland but in reality a mighty man of God! It is time again for a mighty move of our Lord to sweep over Ireland. Will you join in prayer for this wonderful country?"

"Those of us who have lived away from this Island for an extended time will immediatly know how much we love this country and it's people. Many Irish exiles and their descendants express this love by celebrating St Patricks day all over the world. For those of us fortunate enough to return to live in Ireland, we realise that truly we need a profound move of God in our nation. I would encourage you to celebrate your "Irishness" by taking time to pray for this wonderful country on St Patricks day."

"Richard and Lisa Treacy have an obsession to see Ireland fulfill her destiny. The truth is, the world needs Ireland to be whole and leading the way for other nations. Because the other truth is, a disproportionate number of people in the world are at least part-Irish. Praying for Ireland is like praying for your family, and including your distant relative. All who bless the Emerald Isle are themselves incredibly blessed."

Pastor Andrew McLaughlin

"Given the way in which God has used the Irish in past times as recipients and vessels of His blessings, I am delighted to sign up to this and will encourage my congregation to do so. Being originally from Northern Ireland, we need to pray that God will break the historical chains which bind the people of the whole island and throughout the world in bitterness and anger."

"Chico is a college town in northern California. We began three years ago to honor the memory and ministry of St. Patrick. We took out an ad in the newspaper telling the real story of this godly man. We are excited to join the body of Chirst world wide in using the opportunity of this day to pray for the people of Ireland and people of Irish descent world wide. St. Patrick's spiritual passion and innovative methods are worthy of emulating today. We will be praying that many will pray on this day and pick up the mantle of this Christian hero."

Ireland has always been a key country in spreading the word of God around the world. Their people have left the comfort of their homeland and homes in different generations to see the world reached for Christ. One such group was a small band led by Barbara Ruckle Heck. In the mid 1700's they left for America and were responsible for millions of American citizens coming to Christ over the next 250 years. The United Methodist Church was birthed because of them.

Now is the time to stand up and pray that God would release His Spirit upon Ireland. Ireland needs a great move of God and the world needs the fruit of Ireland to spread, once again, across America and the world. May God Bless Ireland.

It never ceases to amaze us here in the Emerald Isle how many people across the world hallow their Irish ancestry! I can recall bumping into a sales assistant in a clothes store in Florida, with the broadest of American accents, whose response to finding out that I had come from Ireland was, 'Wow! I'm Irish!' And stories such as that could be repeated ad infinitum. Wherever you go in the world the call of the ancestral homeland seems to be very strong for the Irish in exile - indeed, you might be forgiven that the Irish away value their 'Irish-ness' even more than the ones left behind.

For proof, check out the scale of the St Patrick's day celebrations in various parts of the world. Of course, immediately thoughts turn to New York, Chicago and the like, with rivers dyed green; but we even have the proposals in London to celebrate, when the English national day of St George goes with a whimper!

So, what better idea than to use this St Patrick's Day affection for Ireland to encourage the 'exiles' to pray for their homeland? Yes, the situation in Ireland has changed, with the 'Troubles' hopefully moving far behind us, but the new, emerging Ireland needs the people of God to hold it up before him. We have a new Ireland, once faithful to a Christian heritage, overtaken by secular forces, church attendance dwindling to alarmingly low levels, traditional Christian values despised as the over-riding value of 'individuality' takes root. We have churches despised and ignored, sometimes because of high-profile failures, and as a result the values upheld by churches laughed away. We have an increasingly multi-cultural society, with the accompanying benefits of diversity but also the shame of racism emerging.

And yet, we also have lights of hope right across the island, where God's people are making a difference in so many communities, bringing hope, love, kindness and reconciliation.

Pray on St Patrick's Day deserves the support of the Irish wherever they happen to be. I hope it grows into something of significance and turns that affection for Ireland into a passionate calling for God to move by his Spirit in a new way across the island.

Rev Robert Miller Rector Maghera, Chair Church of Ireland
Youth Department Executive.

This call to prayer is one which we should all pay attention to. I believe that the issues which address those living here in Ireland, can find resolution through the prayerful action of Christians. I commend the web site as a step that places this call before as many people as possible. It is a call to look out to the broken community we live in, and to invite God's healing to work through His people. I believe it will be especially effective at reaching young people with the message to pray in a focused and effective manner.

There is no doubt the eyes of the world have been on Ireland for many years -Many prayers have indeed been answered and we have come along way, as politicians keep telling us. But there is a "sound" to be heard and it is from the people who do not make the headlines. These people gather all over the island worshipping and praying together, seeking the Lord's face, sometimes for days on end. I count it a privelge to be able to serve and share with many of these groups. The legacy of places like Bangor Abbey with perpetual praise goes on today. So on St Particks Day let us sing, pray and praise lifting the name of the Lord.

In recent years the Lord has revived the memory of the Celtic church. Many have found a new spirituality and a fresh vision. A vision and mission similar to that of the Celtic missionaries is rising in the body world-wide and I believe this prayer initiative is a God-inspired means to fan the flames of Christ-centred passion for mission. I wholeheartedly commend the initiative.

Pastor Ken Hansen

“In recent years people around the world have found themselves drawn to Celtic music and writing. I believe it’s because God once again desires to reveal and make known the rich spiritual heritage of Ireland. It’s a heritage that is filled with miracles, evangelism and intimacy with God. Three things the church and the world desperately need to see manifest in this hour. Understanding the spiritual heritage of Ireland, it is imperative that we pray for her to awaken and rise to the calling God has placed upon her, return to her roots, and lead the charge. We must pray that the heart and passion of St. Patrick will be rekindled in the Irish people. Because if it is, they will become an unstoppable spiritual force in the earth!”
